FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What if I can't
sleep?
The staff is well aware that this is a problem and do not expect
that you will be able to sleep just the same way as at home. Great
effort is made to make the environment as friendly and comfortable as possible. Also
remember, people often sleep two or three hours without knowing it. A
great deal can be learned from just a few hours of sleep. Do not worry
if you do not sleep at all. You and your doctor will discuss the next
steps. Generally, a sleep lab will not give you medication to put you to
sleep.
Do I have to
sleep on my back?
No. The wires are long enough to allow you to turn over and sleep in
any position.
Will the
technologist know what I am dreaming about?
No. They
will know that you are dreaming but not what you are dreaming about.
How do I get
there?
Contact the sleep lab for instructions. Parking may be expensive and
you be sleepy after your test. It might be a good idea to have a friend
drop you off and pick you up or take a taxi.
